Sometimes I look at current-generation graphics and say, "Hmm, I guess they're pretty darn good after all. Then I see them in motion, and I say, "What the hell was I thinking?"
I'm sort of annoyed that a lot of video game designers firmly believe that they can use 3D polygon graphics for nearly ANYTHING, even applications that are in themselves 2-dimensional and could easily be sprited for far better appeal. Developers like Arc System Works, who actually took the time to sprite stuff in BlazBlue, get my approval because they, too, notice that sprite graphics are never going to be "out-of-date" like everyone says they are.
